This is how Bondi bagged a global marketing phenomenon worth $7 billion a year.

Bondi Bather Swimwear Australia will unveil its exclusive Hello Kitty swimwear and resortwear collection next week.

The collection will debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia on April 15.

Bondi Bather Swimwear Australia MD Kerry Cusack said the collection draws inspiration from local beach surf culture.

"When I think of Hello Kitty, I think iconic, the same way the world views Bondi. There’s only one of them.

"Their universal appeal and interest transcends the norm. It was a simple decision when we were approached by Sanrio’s Licensing Agent, Haven Licensing to partner with Hello Kitty.

"Every female has an affinity to the brand, no matter their age, background or taste. She is timeless and unique, as are we."

Sanrio Global SVP Sandrine de Raspide said the 78 piece collection is mutually beneficial.

"Localization is an important element of our creative partnerships and we're grateful to our agent Haven Licensing for identifying Bondi Bathers as an opportunity for us and bringing the partnership together."

The range features Hello Kitty throughout her day at Bondi Beach. She starts with a swim in the turquoise-blue water, spends some time out on the sand, catches some waves before sunset and gazes upon the stars at night.

Bondi Bather commissioned the talent of local artist Alana Williams to illustrate Hello Kitty’s day in Bondi, bringing an additional exclusivity to the collection.

These illustrations are coupled with photographs of the local surrounds, taken by Bondi Rescue Lifeguard & Photographer Anthony Glick.

The Bondi Bather Australia x Hello Kitty collection will be available from August 2015, with prices starting from $75 for separates.
