Australian womenswear retailer Blue Illusion has appointed its first brand ambassador - an Academy Award winning cinema icon.

The retailer has announced Juliette Binoche as the face of spring/summer 2014.

Binoche said the French-inspired retailer resonated with her lifestyle.

"I’m very excited to be the face of Blue Illusion, a brand that represents independence, real women and beautiful clothes with a true love of everything French."

The 50-year-old Parisian has been the face of Lancôme and will see out the season with Blue Illusion.

Blue Illusion co-founder Donna Guest said she is the essence of the brand.

"She loves to look and feel great yet comfort is first and foremost to Juliette. She is what we are about, an easy-going and casual elegance. It’s modern and of course, it’s chic."

The actress established her career success with feature roles in films such as The English Patient and Chocolat, with recent starring roles including Godzilla and Words And Pictures.

The campaign was photographed in a Parisian apartment with key looks including the wrap dress, white pant suit, shaping jean and denim jacket.

Other highlights from the range include prints of floral, animal and graphic patterns.
