Swimwear brand Baku Australia has released an exclusive preview of its latest campaign, as it moves to increase brand awareness ahead of international expansion and a new category launch.

The spring/summer 2012/13 collection campaign, shot in Mexico by Max Doyle and starring Brazilian-born supermodel Ana Beatriz Barros, will launch July 9.

The fresh campaign also marks a milestone for Baku Australia, which will expand its product offering via its first ever resort wear collection this year.

The debut resort wear range, featuring a selection of kaftan dresses, pants and sheer blouses,as well as jersey maxi dresses, hats and thongs in some of the brand's best-selling prints, with prices ranging from $40 for fine mesh sarongs, to $75 for the kaftans, and up to to $200 for maxi dresses.

The resort wear line will complement the brand's staple swimwear collection, which for spring/summer 2012/13 will include a variety of tropical and hibiscus prints, athletic inspired, sports-luxe styles, and high society retro silhouettes.

Both collections will begin to drop in stores from this month, with a further hi-summer collection to land in late July and the full collection to be in stores by August. International drops will be made from October onwards. Price points for product will range from $50 to $200.

In addition, Baku Australia owner and designer Tamara Bykerk said the brand will also look to significantly grow its international presence in its strongest global markets – US, Holland, Canada, the UK, Germany and Spain – and will also look to expand to Dubai.

“We have been overwhelmed with the overseas interest and success in our brands (Baku Australia and sister brand Ginja), particularly Baku. We have just put on a new USA distributor and will be showcasing the collections at three new shows for us in the USA – Curve New York early August; Curve Las Vegas end August, and a Huntington Beach trade show also in August,” she said.

“Due to the growth of the brands overseas we have created a new role – that of export manager, and look forward to welcoming this new team member next week.”
