Quiksilver has unveiled a brand new retail concept in Australia - and it's not retail as you know it.

The surfwear giant has launched a 'Boardriders' concept store in Coolongata on the Gold Coast.

The first of its kind in Australia, the concept blends surf, skate, snowboard, lifestyle and art.

The new retail experience showcases Quiksilver's core retail brands including Quiksilver, Roxy and DC Shoes.

The store also includes ’28 Cooly’– a terrace bar adjacent to the store offering an afternoon and dinner service.

A lounge area with computers and free WiFi hosts weekly in-store yoga classes and live performances from local bands.

The store is accessible through three separate entrances and offers views of the Pacific Ocean.

It houses over 500 boards and was designed around two main surfboard carousels.

The first carousel travels from top to bottom on the main façade, and the second is located inside above the retail floor.

The store exterior also features a painted photograph of the legendary Snapper Rocks surf spot by local artist and collaborator Wade Lewis.

The interior spreads across a 945m2 open space which provides plenty of natural light.

It combines urban elements like concrete, brick and metal with organic wood and glass.

Each Quiksilver brand has its own concept area, with Roxy, Popsurf and Fitness collections housed in a white salt-wash wood space.

Quiksilver beach, apparel and technical surfing collections are offset with natural wood.

Meanwhile, the DC collection is presented in an urban street setting with a skate wall covered in over 50 skateboards and sneakers.

This marks the 14th global Boardriders store, with sites including France, Portugal, Spain and Russia.
