Amazon has concluded its Prime Day sale with the retailer stating that it saw a record number of customers visiting its Australian site since its launch in December 2017.

In addition to the high volume of visitors, Amazon also reported that the two days of the event were the biggest in terms of total sales for Amazon Australia since opening its retail and marketplace offering.

According to a statement from Amazon, fashion posted strong results throughout the sale with Tommy Hilfiger, Lorna Jane, Calvin Klein and Julius Marlow highlighted as the top selling brands for fashion retailers.

The brand also highlighted a sale on Ray Ban Aviators as a major success with the glasses available for $119.20, a price reduction of 20%.

Amazon Australia country manager Rocco Braeuniger said the business was thrilled by the results of its first Prime Day in Australia.

“Prime only recently launched in Australia yet we were thrilled to see the number of Australian members visiting the website to make the most of the great savings available to them on Prime Day.

“We have been humbled by the reception from Prime members to Prime Day in Australia with demand exceeding our expectations, and sales surpassing Boxing Day on the first day.

“Members across the country have snapped up thousands of deals during the event and we look forward to bringing members even greater value and more exciting benefits.”
