43% of Australian shoppers believe that the fashion category delivers the lowest quality products in new research released by Couriers Please.

In a survey of 1000 Australians, the research also found that 57% of Aussies choose products based on price rather than quality (32%).

The results also show that only a quarter of respondents are happy with the quality of all the items they've purchased online but 59% of shoppers are satisfied with 75% of the products delivered to them.

To mitigate the chance of disappointment, Aussies like to read reviews online first, with 67% stating they do this. Meanwhile, 39% prefer to stick to brands they know will deliver quality products while 36% only buy from online retailers that have a returns policy that includes a full refund.

Couriers Please (CP) spokesperson Jessica Ip said that the research results suggest that the demand for bargains online will increase.

"More often than not, Aussies expect to get a good deal when shopping online compared with shopping in-store for the same product.

"At CP, we believe this expectation will only grow as the retail industry continues to shift to online, and e-tailers will follow suit.

"The consumer expectation is a result of the plethora of online-exclusive discounts, coupons and promo codes, and the ease with which consumers can compare prices online," she said.
