Fashioning Now: Changing the way we make and use clothes

An exhibition and symposium at University of Technology, Sydney from 28 July – 28 August 2009.
Investigating the way in which clothing is produced, used and discarded, Fashioning Now is an exhibition and accompanying symposium featuring innovative research projects from Australian and international practitioners.

Through a dynamic array of fashion garments, textile objects, photography, fashion illustration and time-based media, Fashioning Now seeks to highlight the diversity of sustainable solutions currently being explored by designers, researchers and manufacturers, while predicting possible scenarios for a future fashion industry.

Industry symposium begins at 1pm on 28th July 2009 and is being held at Bon March Studio – CB3.01.05 at the University of Technology, Sydney.

The symposium brings together practising designers, students, teachers, academics, and researchers in a knowledge-sharing forum. With invited speakers from the fashion industry and academia, the symposium aims to present examples of best practice that are currently taking place within a changing industry.  The symposium will close with a keynote lecture from international author of ‘Sustainable Fashion & Textiles: Design Journeys”, Dr.Kate Fletcher, Reader in Sustainable Fashion at the London College of Fashion, UK.

Seating is limited. For bookings please contact: info_fashioningnow@uts.edu.au
